Dervish in Progress at Festival dei Sensi
Turning is not about losing balance, it is about finding your center while the world keeps moving.” Ziya Azazi
I am thrilled to join Festival dei Sensi for the first time this year — a celebration of ideas, senses, and creativity set in the enchanting landscapes of Valle d’Itria, Italy. It is a joy and an honour to bring Dervish in Progress to a new geography, and to share it with curious minds and open hearts in beautiful Italy. I look forward to inspiring new faces, touching new souls, and sparking fresh excitement through the art of turning.

Dervish in Progress is a journey of body, mind, and emotion — a living dance between gravity and freedom. It invites you to discover your axis, open your heart, and expand your awareness while spinning into stillness. It is not only movement, but also transformation — a chance to feel both grounded and limitless at the same time.

On Sunday, August 24, I will lead the workshop:
Nella Danza Rotante, I Cicli Cosmici Sunday 24 August | 09:00 | Istituto Comprensivo G. Marconi (Martina Franca) Fee: €5,00 – Duration: 1 hour

Booking required: Please call by Saturday 23 August at +39 335 69 12 555 with your name, surname, date, and number of participants. You will receive a confirmation if your booking is accepted.

Sufi whirling is a mystical form of meditation marked by a unique technique of continuous body rotation — a movement symbolizing the harmony of the cosmos in the cycles of day and night, and the changing seasons. Dervishes, as famously evoked in a song by Franco Battiato, whirl with arms open, the right hand facing the sky and the left hand toward the earth, in a hypnotic repetition leading towards ecstasy and the divine.

I look forward to meeting everyone who wishes to join me in this journey of movement, presence, and connection.
In every turn, we are both the traveler and the destination.” – Ziya Azazi
